Accessibility

A safe place for all where accessibility and inclusion thrive.

  • Accessibility

The George Community Pub is an accessible venue for wheelchair users who can gain step free access via the main front door entrance and through an entrance door from the beer garden at the rear of the property. We have a lift to our first-floor activity room for anyone with mobility issues. There is also a hearing loop in the activity room on the first floor.

  • Inclusion

Inclusion is very important to us and goes beyond physical accessibility. As such, our sharing the heritage of The George and our beautiful building, have been designed to be enjoyed by as many people as possible. We tell the stories of time through visual and audio methods, and all are shared online for anyone unable to visit.

We are firmly committed to providing a safe space for all, where inclusion and diversity thrive, in line with our aims and values. Everyone sharing these values will be made very welcome.

  • Toilet Facilities

The George has a DDA-compliant toilet and baby changing facility on the ground floor.

  • Dogs

We welcome all dogs within The George if they are well-behaved and kept on a lead. Access for dogs might be restricted depending on the events that are taking place within the venue at any given time.

  • Beer Garden

The George beer garden is sited at the rear of the property and is fully accessible via George Lane or through the building. Outdoor tables and chairs provide an outside area where on a nice day you can enjoy a drink with a light lunch or an evening meal provided by our adjacent kitchen.

  • Parking

The George is in a residential area and there is no onsite carpark however, there are several public car parks within a short walking distance. Currently parking after 5.30pm is free of charge. Drop off and collection can be made at the front of the pub. Mobility scooters can be parked at the side of the pub or within the Beer Garden.
